Melinda Birchmore Musick, PhD, MD

Dr. Musick is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. She completed her dermatology residency at The Medical College of Georgia, in Augusta, Georgia, and has been practicing in Huntsville since 1989.

In addition to general diagnostic and consultative dermatology, she also developed expertise in dermatopathology. Dr. Musick has a passion for research and has been a principal investigator in over 30 different research studies in the field of dermatology.

Prior to her dermatology residency, Dr. Musick completed two years of residency training in pathology and internal medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. She attended The University of Georgia and graduated with a MA in Journalism in 1970 and received a PhD in Communications from the University of Illinois at Urbana with a special interest in health care resource utilization.

Dr. Musick is an active member of numerous professional societies, such as the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the Medical Association of the state of Alabama. She serves on the volunteer clinical faculty for the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Medicine.

On a personal note, Dr. Musick is a native of Athens, Georgia. She chose to move to Huntsville because it's cosmopolitan, hi-tech culture in a small town atmosphere makes it a perfect place for family life, but still affords opportunity for a challenging and diverse practice.

Kathleen Shergy Hesterman, MD

Kathleen Shergy Hesterman, M.D. is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology practicing medical, cosmetic and surgical dermatology and is a native of Huntsville. She received her undergraduate degree at Rice University in Houston, TX. She then attended Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha. She also completed her internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology at Tulane. In addition, Dr. Hesterman completed a clinical research fellowship at Tulane University, serving as sub-investigator for ten clinical drug trials including: atopic dermatitis, acne vulgaris, psoriasis, and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. She continues to stay up to date with research to optimize patient outcomes.

During her residency, Dr. Hesterman received numerous scholarships to attend national and local meetings. She has published multiple articles including the lead article in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and presented at numerous conferences including the national American Society of Dermatologic Surgery meeting. In her final year of residency, Dr. Hesterman received the Dermatopathology award.

Dr. Hesterman maintains an active membership with the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Medical Association. In addition, she is a staff dermatologist at Huntsville Hospital.

When she is not practicing dermatology, Dr. Hesterman enjoys spending time with her husband -- Josh -- and her three sons. Dr. Hesterman is excited to return to Huntsville, and she looks forward to treating patients of all ages as if they were her own family!

Neil Chevallier, MSN, CRNP

Neil Chevallier is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. He attended The University of Alabama, Huntsville where he completed his Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner Studies. Prior to NP school, Neil received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama in nursing and a bachelor's degree from the Universitly of Louisiana at Monroe in Monroe, Louisisana in psychology. Neil spent several years working in critical care and emergency nursing prior to finding his home in dermatology.

Neil’s clinical interests include treatment of psorasis, acne, eczema, hidradenitis suppurativa, atopic dermatitis and rosacea. He performs skin exams and specializes in performing biopsies for early diagnosis and treatment of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Neil is an active member in several academic organizations, including The North Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association, The North America Dermatology Nurse Practitioner Association and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Amber Harrison, MSN, CRNP

Amber Harrison is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She attended the University of Alabama, Huntsville where she received her bachelor's degree in science (nursing) and her Master of Science Nursing in Family Practice. Prior to her nursing career, Amber became a licensed esthetician because of her passion for skin care. She now has over 10 years of experience as an esthetician and continues to provide those services today. 

Amber's uniques knowledge allows her to focus on cosmetic skin care as well as treating a variety of dermatological conditions such as acne, rosacea, skin cancer, psoriasis and eczema. She is licensed and certified to provide a wide array of cosmetic and laser procedures. Amber's particular focus is in skin cancer prevention and patient education. Amber is an active member in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
